What size is your Hamster database? Mine is up to 5 GB and I'm wondering if
I should be concerned about potential problems anytime soon (or if and when
I should start to worry)?

Thanks

David

Are you talking about news or emails?

FYI: Hamster is restricted to 1 GB for each newsgroup separately; else, you
have only the size of your drive as limit (deducting some space for
temporary files and so on).

I am talking about news.

Will there be any catastrophic consequences if a newsgroup does manage to
reach the 1GB limit?

Depends on your interpretation of the phrase 'catastrophic consequences'.

AFAIK, any new articles will not be stored, but hamster will treat them as
would have been. And because of that, you will get errors when purging.

I'm not quite sure, but I don't think that additionally happens more serious
damage to the data base; anyway, I do recomend to avoid this situation, if
possible.
