They dont do citrus, their systems cant cope with it. Hamsters are pretty
clever at knowing exactly what is Ok to eat.
If you watch carefully when you give them something safe but new to them
they will examine it very carefully then eat a tiny amount and store the
rest. I think its a survival technique. Eat a tiny bit now and if it doesnt
make you ill then its safe to eat more. The next time they will probably eat
at all of it. Thats assuming they enjoyed the first bit. My little horrors
used to put unwanted stuff in their loo jars or down the back of the
Hamster watching can take up a lot of time.
